Ali Mahmoud

Biography

Ali Mahmoud was born on 28 May 1983 in Ottawa, Canada, to a family from Machghara. He played at St. Patrick’s High School and later represented the University of Ottawa.

He moved to Lebanon in 2003 and began his professional career with Champville before joining Al Riyadi Beirut, where he spent most of his playing years. He also played for Byblos before returning to Al Riyadi.

Mahmoud represented Lebanon in continental and international competition and became part of an important generation in Lebanese basketball.

He represented Lebanon at the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan and the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey, in addition to Asian and West Asian competitions with the national team and his clubs.

Known as an experienced point guard in high-pressure games, he also became a visible link between Lebanese basketball and the Lebanese community in Canada.

Built a long and successful career with Al Riyadi Beirut.

Represented the Lebanese national team in major competitions.

Represented Lebanon at two FIBA World Championships, in 2006 and 2010.

Competed in multiple continental tournaments with Lebanon and Al Riyadi Beirut.
