Ain Zarqa and the Winter River are among the prominent water resources around Machghara and form part of the natural and agricultural landscape for which the town is known.
The National Litani River Authority records a water intake on the Winter River near Ain Zarqa, from which water is diverted to the Abdel Aal–Anan tunnel to support production at the Arqash hydroelectric plant.
The site illustrates the relationship between Machghara’s water resources, its agricultural environment, and Lebanon’s national water and energy infrastructure. Visitors should respect safety restrictions near technical installations.
