On 21 May 2016, Machghara inaugurated the Zaki Nassif Museum and Cultural Center during the centenary of the late composer and musician’s birth. The center was established inside Nassif’s home in the town, turning a place directly connected to his life into part of the public preservation of his legacy.
The project included a music school intended to benefit people from across the region, giving the center an educational role in addition to its museum and cultural functions.
The opening followed the completion of the house’s restoration by the Association for Protecting Natural Sites and Old Buildings in Lebanon, known as APSAD. The association had received the property as a donation from Zaki Nassif’s heirs in December 2012.
Through this process, the family home became an accessible cultural space combining musical memory, public visits, and music education for Machghara and surrounding communities.
