Machghara Governmental Hospital
The principal government hospital serving Machghara and West Bekaa, with services expanded progressively after effective operations began.
Government hospitalOrigins and Role
The hospital building and equipment were completed before full-scale operations were activated. Ministry of Public Health statements in 2019 described it as having remained underused for years before a financial ceiling was allocated to begin effective service delivery.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital was prepared to receive patients and an intensive-care unit opened in November 2020. It subsequently served patients and vaccination campaigns across West Bekaa and beyond.

Expansion of emergency, inpatient, and imaging services, including a CT scanner inaugurated in November 2023.

Opening of chemotherapy and neonatal-care departments in December 2025, expanding specialist services in West Bekaa and reducing the need for patients to travel to distant hospitals.
